The Weekend


This morning when I weighed myself it came in at 265.6. This is the first week, since I've started weighing myself daily, that I ended the week on a higher weight than I started. However, my weight at the start of the week was artificially low due to the illness I suffered through last week. When I chart it out, last week shows up as a deep dip, in an otherwise regular trend.
So, rather than feeling bad about being up a little over the course of last week, I feel good about being on track.

Bread Talk

Last Night I made a 4-3-1 with 16 twists of the salt grinder. I can just barely taste the salt.

So...Missing a Meal is Bad

Yesterday, I left to see Carol without having eaten lunch. As a result, it was after four when I finally did eat. By that time I was very hungry and starting to feel the light headed. After my late lunch/early supper, I still felt hungry and continued to feel that way most of the rest of the evening.

Ironically, one of the items I discussed with Carol yesterday was reducing the amount of food eaten at a time. The concern she raised was that if I do that, I want to be sure not to get too little protein, as doing so could lead to me feeling hungry. So, her advice was if I reduce the amounts I eat at meals, I should have a small snack of protein between meals, similar to the ounce of cheese at bedtime.

The lesson: Don't wait too long to eat, and don't skip meals.

Back to See Carol After Almost a Month

I have an appointment to see Carol this afternoon. Between our trip, and my illness it has been four weeks since my last visit. On that day my weight was a little over 13 pounds higher than it is now. I've had steady losses (gains?) along the way, with some wavering during the last ten days when I was ill and then later recovering from illness.
I should have eaten something before I left to see Carol. It was after 4 when I next had a chance to eat, and by then I was experiencing a "hungry."

Last Night Went Much Better

Last night I managed to get to sleep not long after going to bed and did not get up in the middle of the night feeling hungry.

I'm baking a 4-3-1 today. I think I may have forgotten to add the white flour. I looked in to the machine and it was rather soupy. I added about 1/4c of whole wheat flour and it firmed up, but the end result was a rather flat loaf.

Not a Great Night

Well last night I had horrible insomnia. It was 1am before could get to sleep. About midnight, I got the hungry thing going. I guess the cheese had worn off by then.

We've been experimenting with adding more salt. Anita is trying to cut down on sodium, so we want the lowest possible amount of salt to provide the desired flavor. Today was a 4-3-1 with 12 twists of the salt grinder.

Another Try at Reentry

Today's foray back into the workplace is going much better than the last attempt. I'm not falling asleep at the keyboard, nor am I getting up and running to the restroom every 10 minutes.

My weight is up a bit today over yesterday, but it is still below the overall trend, so I think it is likely just more recovery from my illness.
The cheese at bedtime is clearly a rousing success. I had my chesse again last night, and later I had some trouble falling asleep. I got bacvk up for a couple of hours, and did not feel like I needed to eat. This is a really big change for me.
I think I need to reduce the amounts of things on the food plan. My stomach seems to have shrunk while I was ill and It now feels like too much. I'll bring it up with Carol.

Definitely Feeling Better

I'm still having some body aches and bloating, but overall, I'm feeling much better than last week. Today's weight is still very low. Since I wasn't eating, I probably lost some non-water weight last week as well.
