Feeling a Little Better

My stomach seems to have handled yesterday's dinner reasonably well, so I am trying to get back to a regular eating schedule today. My weight is up a little from what it was yesterday. I consider that to be a good thing, as the steep dive over the last 4 days (10 pounds) was not healthy.

  • Slice of 4-3-1 bread
  • 3/4c cottage cheese
  • 12oz V8

Still Quite Ill

My weight has plummeted over the last 4 days. A large part of that weight loss is water loss, as my continue to have severe diarrhea. If only real weight loss were that fast. I am going to try to force myself to drink a gallon of water today, in an attempt to keep up with the losses.

So...around noon today, Anita asked whether I had taken anything for the diarrhea. Honestly, it had not occured to me the whole week. I took some Loperamide (Immodium), and it had a terrific affect. The yogurt I ate at noon was well behaved, and I felt brave enough to try a real supper at dinner time.

Still Ill

I'm still feeling very ill, with what I suspect is food poisoning. I'm down 8 pounds since Monday, but it's likely mostly dehydration. I trying very hard today to drink enough water to make up for the losses food poisoning is causing.

I realized today that if someone does try to use this applicaiton, they may have a little trouble getting started. There are no instructions, and it's not really all that intuitive.

Bread Talk

I still haven't tried the 4-3-1 from two days ago.

I Seem to Have Picked Up a Bug

Yesterday afternoon and this morning, I've been quite ill. I have lost my appetite and as a result mostly stopped eating. I'm going to try to eat a little something then go to bed.

So, um eating was not a good idea.

Bread Talk

I made a 4-3-1 again last night. I have not tasted it.

Back to the Grind

This morning I had another pleasant surprise when I hopped on the scale. Which is good, because re-entry into work is not going easily. I'm still quite jet lagged, and tomorrow is showcase, so there is a lot of rushing around trying to get the last bits of code checked in and tested.

I had my ounce of cheese at bedtime yesterday, and did not get hungry afterwards: yet another data point indicating that Carol was correct in her hypothesis.

I started feeling ill about mid morning and by mid afternoon I went to bed. I haven't eaten since then.

Food Today

5:15am
  • double espresso
  • 1c cottage cheese
  • 1 (thick) slices of 4-3-1 bread
  • 12oz V8

Good Thing It's a Holiday

Antia and I are both still recovering from the trip back. I don't think either of us would have done well if today were a work day.
I am setting a reminder to eat my cheese at bedtime.
My weekly averages chart is still looking quite good:

Bread Talk

Starting today, I'm going to start referring to the homemade bread by the relative amounts of 7-grain mix, whole wheat flour and white flour. So for example the bread I made yesterday with 1c mix, 3/4c whole wheat flour and 1/4c of white flour is "4-3-1."

Food today

7:30am

  • double espresso
  • 1c cottage cheese
  • 2 slices of 4-3-1 bread
  • 1 large nectarine
  • 12oz V8

12:30pm

  • Turkey and swiss sandwich on while grain rye
  • 2oz Roast turkey
  • 1oz swiss
  • 1/2 medium tomato
  • 2 slices whole grain rye bread
  • 1oz Snappea Crisps
  • 1/2 large nectarine

5pm

  • Tomato soup
  • Portland French Bakery sourdough bread

Home Again

I had a pleasant suprise when I weighed myself this morning. It was the first time since we started the trip, and I was concerned that I had perhaps gained back some of the weight that I had lost. Instead, today's was the lowest weight (by a tiny amount) since I started weighing myself as part of this attemtp to finally take control over my weight.

I have been updating the blog since this morning.

Update: I forgot to eat my cheese at bedtime, and found myself quite hungry later in the evening. The evidence is starting to add up to the cheese at bedtime making a significant difference.

Bread Talk

Today I repeated the half 7-Grain Mix half flour recipe I used lat month (on the 21st). The loaf was lumpy again, and again the crumb was nice and uniform and the bread was quite moist. Anita loves quinoa, so I'm thinking of ways to try to incorporate that into the recipe.
